Lots Going on at the Delegate Assembly
AFT Utah, Delegate Assembly was held On May 8-9, 2009. The biggest change to come out of this meeting was the creation of the Executive Council to replace the Executive Board as the governing body of AFT Utah. This new Council will comprise the Executive Board officers (President, Secretary/Treasurer, VP Higher Ed, VP Member Advocate, VP Communication, VP Classified, VP K-12, VP Health Care (currently vacant) VP COPE and VP Professional Issues) and the Local Presidents or their Designees. The Local Presidents will be voting members of the Council in order to better represent YOUR needs. The Assembly also voted to put the powers of the President and the COPE committee in line with the decisions of the Council. If you have questions about the other changes that occurred at the meeting, be sure to ask you Local leadership, and be sure to read your Point when it comes out. The future of AFT is in your hands, get involved and make your Local strong and representative of YOUR needs and interests.
